Photobooks are a unique way of presenting a series of images or presenting a project. Creating a book is an immensely challenging yet satisfying experience, with careful consideration required at every step - from image editing to sequencing, paper choice, layout and binding. Like my prints, I only put handcrafted books on this website, and the pricing reflects the time and effort required to create one of these little pieces of the self. These are not intended to be mass-produced, and standard book editions will be limited to 16. Special editions will be limited to 7.

ARRAN SQUARED

This book has been some time in the making. The idea stayed in seed for a long time before I finally decided to nurture it properly, but in the end, I am fairly happy with the result, particularly as it is my first proper handmade book.

It includes 25 'wee squares' (as Mark Littlejohn would say!) taken during a trip to the Isle of Arran in autumn 2017. It is an homage to the restorative power of a short photographic retreat in a stunning location and contains images shot with a Nikon D850 as well as an iPhone 6S Plus.

The book is hand-bound with a Japanese binding technique using coloured twine and tweed green book cloth. The images are printed on Fotospeed High White Smooth duo paper using Fotospeed Inkflow inks. It really was a joy to put together, and seeing a project through to this form is a source of great fulfilment. Thanks to Joseph Wright and Eddie Ephraums, whose bookmaking workshops were a real inspiration.

The book is also available as a concertina-style bind which includes a colour-matched protective sleeve. This style will be printed on Fotospeed Smooth Cotton paper.

Each book comes with 2 A4 prints of your choice printed on Fotospeed Smooth Cotton paper. To select your preferred images please have a look at the 'Arran Squared' project page.

Arran Squared is priced at £120 including delivery (UK only, for RoW please enquire)

To order, simply drop me a line through the contact page indicating which style you prefer (Japanese bind or concertina), as well as your preferred A4 print choices, and I will get back to you with further details. As each book is handmade to order I cannot guarantee a delivery time frame but will keep you regularly updated and will only request payment once the book is ready for dispatch. As with my prints, the book will come with a certificate of authenticity and seal.
